HOW TO SWITCH BETWEEN DIFFERENT NETWORK SPEEDS (2G, 3G, H+, 4G, 5G) ON MOBILE PHONES

Network speed is one of the things I wrote previously on things to consider before buying an Android phone. Good food they say *na money de make am* lol
If you need something better, you need to pay to get it.
Nevertheless, some people don't understand these terms; AIRPLANE MODE and NO SIGNAL.

Airplane mode is the mode you can switch your phone to when your in a place like in a  meeting
Or in place you are advised to turn off your  phone due radio activities around etc

No signal on the other means that there is a SIM card in the phone but there is no network coverage. Either that there are no signal truly or that the phone's antenna is faulty.
.

Now to the main thing....
Let me start with 2G

In this category, we have 2g which is GPRS(general packet radio service) with the speed of 114kbps and 2.5G EGPRS(enhanced GPRS) with the speed of 400kbps. Switch to this mode if  you want to save battery

The next is 3G OR WCDMA(Wideband Code Division Multiple Access)

This connection is faster than 2G but slower than the next one which is H+. With the speed of 384kbps, incredibly fast right? Lol
This connection is good.

The next is H or H+

High speed package access(HSPA) is better and faster than 3G with the speed of  14.4Mbps or 21Mbps and 42Mbps on some networks.
Nigerians will tell you that H+ is 4Mbps or 3Mbps due to the kind slow H+ or H signal we have in this country.
*No be Bozingwa talk am ooo*

The next is 4G
This is awesome with the speed of  160Mbps.
This is indeed faster than H+ but the bad news is that this network speed is not yet in some countries and regions. This was recently introduced in Nigeria but has not been established in most states. Not all mobile devices with H+ reception have 4G reception.
We also have 4.5G with the speed of 300Mbps,awesome!!

The next is 5G
5G has a mind blowing speed of 1000Mbps(1Terabit)
With this connection, large files be it HAD movies, apps or games etc will hit your phone in just a second. This is the highest so far.(as of the time I compiled this article)

Now let me show you how to switch between them....

Most phone are branded, like most Samsung, HTC, LG etc. You know this mostly through the boot log of your phone. Companies like AT&T, T-Mobile, alleh, Vodafone, Verizon etc will customize some of these phones. Once you boot your phone, you may see their logo on the phone start up screen. Customized phones have many limitations compared to the full version.

So, for SAMSUNG(customized)
You will notice that the network mode is not always available. To switch between network modes on these phones.

Dial *#0808# or *#9090#

Then from the next pop up screen got to network mode selection and switch to the one you need. (Switch and see whether your phone detects the network you switched to, if not return it back to the previous mode). Samsung has various modes for various purposes. Which I will talk about in my next article.

For  other phones, locate the settings of your phone, find mobile network and then network mode (the location will be determined by your phone Operating system version)

The above picture is that of my INFINIX note 2Lte
Most times the network mode of the device will not be active. I mean a situation where you can't click on it,that simply means that your phone 3G or H+ or 4G or 5G antenna and some I.C that has to something to do with the network reception of the phone are not in good shape(faulty)
Meaning that the Antenna powering the GSM band and 3G band l are different. In this case meet an expert to fix it or bring it to us.
If you switched from 2G to 3G for e.g and your phone showed no signal, this could either mean that the 3G antenna is bad or that there is no 3G coverage around.

You can use this application called "network mode" to manually switch between network modes.

DOWNLOAD IT FROM HERE. OR

FROM GOOGLE PLAYSTORE

Open the application and locate the network mode as shown below ...

You can also dial *#*#4636#*#* on your Android device then goto PHONE INFORMATION and the select your preferred network mode as shown in the last picture above.
